HOPE

HOPE - Honest Optimism based on Personal Endeavors

I love the above acronym for hope. This simply says that yes, there is something we can do to have hope.

Is hope really that important? Martin Luther said that everything that is done in the world is done by hope. John Lubbock said that hope should be classed as virtue, along with faith and character. Alexander said that hope is the true inheritance of all that resolve upon great enterprises. We could also think of it in this light: A person without hope will take no action. The student who has no hope of passing will not study; the salesperson with no hope of making the sale won’t make the call. Hope is the starting point for accomplishment.

Over the years, with the help of hundreds of audiences and thousands of people all over the world, I have come to the conclusion that there are eight things that all of us want, regardless of our age, education, ethnic background or gender. Everybody wants to be happy, healthy, at least reasonably prosperous, secure, to have friends, peace of mind, good family relationships and hope. Actually, it all starts with hope.

Carefully examine these eight things and ask yourself the questions: Can I honestly expect to be happy if I have no hope? What impact would it have on my health if I were without hope? How prosperous could I become if I had no hope that I could become prosperous? How secure would I be in my personal, family and career if I had no hope? What kind of person would I be and, consequently, how many friends would I be able to attract if I were living without hope? Can you imagine peace of mind without hope? What do you think your relationship with your family would be if you were a person without hope?

Interestingly enough, the best way to have hope is to give hope. The more you give, the more you’ll have. Give it to those you encounter and I’ll SEE YOU AT THE TOP!

A Great Salesperson Can Sell Anything! Really??

By Bernie O’Donnell

Despite the likelihood that salespeople are the most studied species among mankind, we continue to hire, incent and coach them based upon an erroneous set of beliefs. The result is missed opportunities, low margins, missed quotas, unacceptable service and — the mortal sin — lost customers.

There is absolutely no basis for the adage that “great salespeople can sell anything.” Nor is there a basis for the unqualified premise that “the best predictor of future performance is past performance.” It all depends on the degree to which your environment mirrors that in which the salesperson has been most successful.

As with any job, the personal drivers of sales success are found within expertise, traits and character - the Competency Trio™.

In most jobs, Expertise (skills, knowledge and experience) is the easiest to assess, but not so in sales. Personality, which is formed from elements of traits and character, gets much attention as sales managers seek that non-existent magic salesperson that can “sell anything to anyone.”

Unfortunately, this focus on personality and attitude is often at the expense of two factors that are at least as predictive of future success. The first is mental acuity. How much business do you think gets left on the table because the salesperson doesn’t think as fast as the buyer or decision maker? The second critical consideration is how well your environment maps to the experience of the sales rep.

What do you think we should consider when hiring salesperson? feel free to share.

Learn This Secret to Boost Your Confidence 2

You are not the center of the universe. Nobody really cares about your every move. Nobody is watching, and if they happen to be, they are far less concerned with what you are doing and much more focused on what YOU are thinking about them. That’s the irony of this. You think you are so important that everyone cares what you do, when in fact, everyone is so preoccupied with themselves that they don’t even notice or care what you are doing.

Get Over Yourself!

When you walk into a networking event, what are you thinking?
When you are introduced to someone new, are you trying to remember their name or are you instead thinking of something witty or clever to say to make a good impression? Do you have any fear when you are in a job interview? Are you petrified to give a public speech?
Do you resist speaking up in a meeting even if you think you might have something important to share?

What To Do When You Have To Take a Step Back - 1

In the process of any form of achievement there will be times ...

where you take a step back –
where things don’t go as planned
when you fall into a bit of a slump.

These moments hurt. But don’t quit...

Persistence ...
is an aspect of success that many people struggle with because it is difficult to keep working, fly past the tipping point point. I hope these strategies make the road towards your goals simpler, with less interference from steps backwards.

Identify the cause. ..
Any solution requires a clear problem. What is it specifically that you’ve deemed to be a step away from your goals? When you break things down like this instead of responding immediately with “Everything’s gone wrong, I’m doomed!” you’re able to think logically without the interference of emotion. Smart decisions can be made in response.

Remember where you’re going...
Have a clear direction, an end goal. This is a key tool for motivating yourself through times where everything feels to be going against you. Every day visualise the exact outcome you want from your goals.

Realize it’s just a pot hole, not a canyon...
It’s a scrape not a flesh wound. Any step back is reversible and rarely requires any major shift in actions or thoughts. Be mindful of what went wrong, acknowledge it, and move on.

What's your take in the face of trouble? Will you quit or persevere?
